Term 1 Information
We will start with an introduction to science & then activities for this term will include:
Microbiology
In this module the children will
- learn about bacteria and their different shapes
- investigate the conditions required for microbes to grow
- are garlic and cinnamon antimicrobial
- make models of bacteria
- investigate yeast
- and much more
Water from Molecules to the Ocean
You will learn about
- water molecules and find out how many there are in a rain drop.
- investigate surface tension
- bouyancy, density and using water to do work
- osmosis and dissolution
- and much more
Marine Biology
you will learn about the aquatic food chain, Mussel Anatomy, Ocean Layers, Shark Teeth, and Coral Reefs and much more.........
Term 2 Information
The activities for this term will include:
Learn about light. Make a kaleidoscope

Investigate strong materials

Potions & Lotions
Learn about and make your own relaxing stress ball.

Veterinary Science:

Term 1 Information
We will start with an introduction to science & then activities for this term will include:
Zoology
In this module the children will
- do an observation of a live animal,
- investigate birds and their beaks,
- dissect a chicken wing (for health and safety reasons it will be cooked in advance )
- and a number of experiments relating to bees.
Space Science
In this module the children will learn about
- the relative size of the planets and the relative distances between them.
- the moon, its orbit, its effect on the tides.
- consider the challenges for colonising Mars and see if we can grow plants in a carbon dioxide environment

Engineering
- investigate pneumatics,
- Make a Pantograph,
- Investigate Dynamics and make a Ping-Pong Ball Launcher,
- Design a Boat Design
- Investigate the best packaging for a fragile Christmas present
Term 2 Information
The activities for this term will include:
Forensic Science
In this module the children will learn about
- Acids and Bases,
- Chromatography,
- Blood types,
- Finger prints will be introduced
- and the children will use these skills to solve a number of mysteries.
Botany
In this module the children will
- learn about plants and their different parts
- grow plants for food
- learn about flowers
- investigate how plants adapt to suit their environment
- and much more
Human Digestion
Starting with the mouth, through a series of fun hands-on activities, we will work our way through this fascinating biological system.
Teeth, taste, swallowing, your stomach and what happens to the food you eat are all going to be investigated during these lessons.
