This is a 15 week Autumn term followed by an 18 week Spring term – Total 33 weeks

Dates: Sept 3, 10, 17, 24, Oct 1, 8, 15, 22, Nov 5, 12, 19, 26, Dec 3, 10, 17

Dates: Jan 7, 14, 21, 28, Feb 4, 11, 25, Mar 4, 11, 18,  Apr 8, 15, 22, 29, May 6, 13, 20, 27
There is no club on Feb 18, Mar 25 & April 1 due to mid term and Easter breaks.

We will start with an introduction to science and then the activities for this term will include:

Microbiology

In this module the children will 

 - learn about bacteria and their different shapes
 - investigate the conditions required for microbes to grow
 - are garlic and cinnamon antimicrobial 
 - make models of bacteria
- investigate yeast
 - and much more

Water from Molecules to the Ocean

You will learn about

- water molecules anf find out how many there are in a rain drop.
- investigate surface tension
- bouyancy, density and using water to do work
- osmosis and dissolution
- and much more

 

Marine Biology

Marine biology, you will learn about the aquatic food chain, Mussel Anatomy, Ocean Layers, Shark Teeth, and Coral Reefs and much more.........

Physics Activities

Learn about light. Make a kaleidoscope.

Learn about magnets

Investigate strong materials

Potions & Lotions

Learn about and make your own relaxing stress ball.

Please let us know about allergies, educational and dietary needs. We dont feed the children but often we use food items in our experiments as for most they are safe materials to work with. If there is a child with an allergy in the group then we replace the allergen with another material or in some cases replace the entire activity.

We want everyone to enjoy science so if your child has any additional needs please do let us know so we can do our best to create a comfortable environment for everyone.

  • We aim to have a few simple rules which everyone can understand. These are as follows:

    Instructions from the leaders must be obeyed.

    Everyone must be safety conscious at all times.

    No one is allowed to leave the venue without permission from the leaders.

  • Cancellation Policy & Late Collection Policy

    Cancellation by Customer - Ongoing clubs

    Where the customer changes their mind in advance of the term starting a refund will be issued minus an administration fee of €30.

    If a child is unable to attend due to illness we try to accommodate the child at an online class in the same week.

    In the event of a red weather warning, closure due to Covid-19  or other force majeure any classes that are unable to go ahead in the venue will be held at the regular time in our Zoom classroom.

    If we have to cancel a class for other reasons the class will be  rescheduled.


    Late Collection Policy


    It is imperative that your child is collected promptly at the end of science club, as our staff have commitments elsewhere. We appreciate that sometimes there may be circumstances beyond parent/carer control affecting the prompt collection of your child. If you know you are going to be late collecting the child from science club please call or text at the earliest opportunity and discuss with the club leader the arrangements for the collection.


    No late collection fee will be charges on the first occasion in a term that you are late, however for subsequent occasions a late collection fee will be charged to your account as follows:

    0-20 minutes late = €10.00

    20-30 minutes late = €20.00

    30-40 minutes late = €25.00


    Unreasonable and/or persistent lateness may regrettably result in the terminating your child’s registration at science club.
