Science Outreach Executive

The Job

We are looking for a science outreach executive to join our energetic and enthusiastic team. The role will involve designing and delivering science camps, clubs and workshops in various different science disciplines to children aged 5 up. The majority of our teaching work is during the afternoons, school holidays and at weekends. There will be some morning work doing class preparation, marketing and general administration work.
This is a 20 – 30 hour a week contract. During term time hours will typically be from 10 – 4.30 with 30 minutes lunch break. During school holidays hours are typically 9.30 – 4. There will be some weekend work. This job qualifies for Jobplus.

The Person Specification

A science qualification – probably to degree level but where the candidate can demonstrate a real interest in science and its communication, other science qualifications will be considered.
Have a full driving licence and your own transport.
Experience working with children and an interest in teaching and education.
Be able to work on your own initiative and independently. This person will not necessarily come to the office every day.
A passion for science and the ability to enthuse others.
You must be willing to submit for Garda vetting.

Science Club Licencee

Are you an enthusiastic science teacher or a teacher with an enthusiasm for science? We are looking for people like you to run afterschool science clubs under licence all across the country.

We provide training, class plans, support, contacts, marketing materials and non-consumable materials.
You source venues, do local marketing, provide consumable materials and teach the children.
We are particularly interested in hearing from people from North Dublin, Meath and Kildare areas but no matter where in the country you are located we are interested in working with you.

Camp Supervisors

Camp supervisors are responsible for the running of the camp in a particular venue. A camp could have up to 40 children of different ages subdivided into age appropriate groups. The camp supervisor is responsible for managing the camp leaders, interacting with the children and their parents, teaching, and some local marketing.
If you are an enthusiastic science teacher or a primary school teacher with a science background with the ability to enthuse others we would like to hear from you.

Camp Leaders

Camp leaders are responsible for working with groups of children, teaching them science, under the direction of the camp leader. You will typically work with groups of 8 children usually of one age group.
If you are a third level science or engineering student or have recently completed your leaving certificate and are hoping to study science or engineering at third level and enjoy working with children we would like to hear from you.
