Designed for 5th and 6th class students who love science but feel a bit too old to be grouped with 1st class students in our mixed-age afterschool clubs, this 10-week course takes hands-on experimenting to the next level. We will send you a kit containing most of the materials you will need to fully participate, you will need to bring some materials from home - water, a jar, a couple of pennies etc. Each week students join a live Zoom lesson exploring the hidden worlds of microbiology and water science, guided step-by-step by one of our science teachers, asking questions and discovering results in real time.

Our vision is simple: give older, science-curious kids the chance to go deeper into science, with a dedicated teacher by their side to guide the way.

Microbiology

In this module the children will
  • Grow and observe bacteria cultures
  • Build a Winogradsky column to see microbial ecosystems in action

Water from Molecules to the Ocean

In this module the children will
  • Discover water's surface tension - its invisible "skin"
  • Investigate capillary action and how water climbs
  • Observe water's freezing power break rock
  • ...and much more
Please let us know about allergies, educational and dietary needs. We dont feed the children but often we use food items in our experiments as for most they are safe materials to work with. If there is a child with an allergy in the group then we replace the allergen with another material or in some cases replace the entire activity.

We want everyone to enjoy science so if your child has any additional needs please do let us know so we can do our best to create a comfortable environment for everyone.

We have a no refunds policy for these workshops. You may transfer your ticket to another participant. Please ensure that you supply us with contact details for the other participant.

Cancellation by Anyone 4 Science
Anyone 4 Science reserves the right to cancel camps, clubs and workshops where the number of children booked is not sufficient to make the event viable. We aim to give as much notice as possible. Normally a warning email will be sent 2 weeks before the camp start date advising clients that there is a possibility that a camp might be cancelled. A final decision date is then agreed with all concerned.
