Times 10.00 – 2.00, Monday – Friday – Junior Infants- 6th Class

** Early Bird available until 05/06/2017 **

These camps are suitable for Junior Infants- 6th Class, all classes will be taught through Irish.

The activities this year are all around the themes of states of matter, viscosity, solar energy, light and sound, forensics and rocket science. We do age appropriate experiments on those themes with one topic usually being taken each day. For the 4 day camp we will leave out some activities – this will be at the discretion of the leaders at each venue.

The children are going to learn about the changing states of matter, immiscible liquids and emulsions. They are going to investigate solar energy for cooking and heating and other experiments and activities.

For our biology theme we will learn about the eye and sight through various fun activities. The children will also learn about the lungs and the respiratory system as well as the heart and the circulatory system.

The children will become forensic scientists for a day and investigate a whodunnit crime using fun CSI experimental materials including as usual.. vinegar and bread soda. We will learn about acids and bases while the older children will also extract DNA from fruit.

The week will end with a blast with fun rocket science .

Times 9.30 – 2.30, Monday – Friday – 1st – 4th Year

** Early Bird available until 05/05/2017 **

These camps are suitable for 1st- 4th year secondary students, all classes will be taught through Irish.

At this camp the students get to do some fun, interesting hands on science. There are individual activities and group activities. We rearrange the groups daily so everyone gets to work with everyone else. For some experiments there is a procedure to follow. Others are problem solving or investigative activities where the students, facilitated by the leaders, have to come up with ideas, hypotheses and procedures.

This year we are going to carry out a chemical synthesis, as well as a liver dissection and enzyme reaction.

We are very excited to announce that our camp will include the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Spectroscopy in a suitcase activities where the students will get an opportunity to use this sophisticated analytical equipment.

We are going to participate in the RSC global experiment.

We have some cool space science experiments planned and will of course spend a day on pneumatics, soldering and electronic projects.
