Times 9.30 – 2.30, Monday – Friday
These camps are suitable for 13 – 15 year olds, typically students who have completed 1st, 2nd or 3rd year in secondary school. International students are also welcome.
At this camp the students get to do some fun, interesting hands on science. There are individual activities and group activities. We rearrange the groups daily so everyone gets to work with everyone else. For some experiments there is a procedure to follow. Others are problem solving or investigative activities where the students, facilitated by the leaders, have to come up with ideas, hypotheses and procedures.
This year we are going to investigate water, its chemical, physical and biological properties and different methods of sterilising it.
We are also going to investigate bubbles – how to make the best, biggest, longest lasting bubbles. Maybe you can even get inside a bubble!
We are very excited to announce that our camp will include the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Spectroscopy in a suitcase activities where the students will get an opportunity to use this sophisticated analytical equipment.
We are going to separate mixtures and even build a coin sorter.
We have some cool marine biology experiments planned and will of course spend a day on soldering and electronic projects.
