Amazing Slime Recipes

Slime Experiment

This week in science club we made slime! This is a fantastic experiment to try at home. The secret to slime making is that practice makes perfect! Here are two different recipes we tried out this week.

Foamy slime

Foamy Slime Recipe

Method

  • Measure out a 1oz cup of shaving foam and scoop it into a bowl.
  • Measure out a 1oz cup of PVA glue and add it to the shaving foam.
  • Add the food colouring and 1/2 a tea spoon of bread soda and mix slowly and thoroughly.
  • Add 1/2 a tea spoon of contact lens solution and mix a little bit quicker.
  • Keep mixing the slime until it all starts to come together. The slime should all come away from the edge of the bowl and clump together around the mixing stick/spoon. Add more contact lens solution if this doesn’t happen.
  • At this stage you can take the slime out and start to kneed it. Stretch and fold the slime. If you keep moving it quickly it shouldn’t stick to your fingers. If it stays sticky then add more contact lens solution.
  • The more you play with your slime the less sticky it becomes.
  • Store your slime in a plastic ziplock bag to stop it from drying out.
